Heech

This project is based on previous explorations in relationships between spatial formations and objects, and it dedicates a design of an empty lot in heart of Oakland for a specific collection. My project focuses on the exhibition of “Heech” by an Iranian artist Parviz Tanavoli. Tanavoli creates sculptures of the word “heech,” which means “nothing” in Persian. The abstract shapes he fashions using Iran’s centuries-old calligraphic Nastaliq script have cemented his reputation as the father of modern Iranian art. This art exhibition creates a strategy that customizes space specifically around the art pieces to be pathless yet interesting.
